Global Investors Meet (GIM) to be held in Bangalore from June 3 to 4 is another opportunity for the Karnataka government to attract investment. Venugopalan spoke to Minister for Large & Medium Scale Industries Murugesh R Nirani, to find out about the investor-friendly initiatives taken by the State Government. Excerpts:

 

gfiles: Former Chief Minister B S Yeddyurappa wanted to follow the Gujarat model for development. Do you think you have achieved the goal?

Murugesh R Nirani:In November 2007, Yeddyurappa had said that his vision was to develop Karnataka into a model state on the lines of Gujarat. Later, he started to work on it. As the first step, I along with a team of officials, visited Gujarat to study their strategies for industrial development.
