chief
ministers losing out
Chandrababu Naidu, Arvind Kejriwal, Vasundhara Raje
Scindia, Shivraj Singh Chouhan, Siddaramaiah and Prakash Singh Badal are all
apprehensive and taken aback by the central government’s working style. Sources
from the respective chief ministers’ states say that all efforts are directed
at not letting the political graph of any of the chief ministers grow. It has
been learnt that the Rajasthan Chief Minister has been advised by the central
leadership to go slow on the “Rajasthan Resurgent Partnership Meet 2015”.
Scindia has already toned down the speed of the summit. There is a furore in
her camp over the way the mining scandal has been unearthed by the
Anti-Corruption Bureau. Shivraj Singh Chouhan’s brother-in-law, Sanjay, is
running from pillar to post among the BJP’s top leadership in Delhi to be
bailed out from the ‘Vyapam’ affair and the CBI net but nobody is heeding his pleas.
Shivraj is in silent mode. The Badal camp in Punjab is aghast at the way
officials of the Chandigarh Administration handled the recent visit of Prime
Minister Narendra Modi, ignoring their advice. Prakash Singh Badal and son
Sukhbir do not know what to do; they are missing their ‘real’ friends in the
BJP. Arvind Kejriwal may pose as brave and fearless but all his MLAs are
furious at the way their colleagues are trapped in some scandal or the other.
Kejriwal can’t do much as most of the MLAs are novices and their antecedents
are yet to be verified, irrespective of their electoral victory. The biggest
victim is Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu. He got an
assurance of financial help from Japan for the state’s new capital but suddenly
the Japanese have turned cold. The smart and suave Chandrababu Naidu does not
know what to do. g
