Double checks for CVC shortlist!
A new Chief Vigilance Commissioner will be finalized soon, with the government short listing the candidates. After the unceremonious exit of PJ Thomas, this time around the government is being cautious. Sources say minute details have undergone scrutiny. The candidates are Usha Mathur (IRAS, 1974) who is currently Secretary, Ministry of Parliamentary Affairs, Vijayalakshmi K Gupta, (IDAS, 1974) who is Secretary (Finance) in the Defence Ministry, and VK Bhasin, who is Secretary, Legislative Department, Ministry of Law and Justice. The government intends to complete this task before the monsoon session of Parliament. But several reputed officials are retiring in June and more contenders for the post may well emerge.
