JULY 22 is Guru Poornima – an occasion considered until a few decades ago to be one of the most important events in this culture. What makes this day so significant? It is important to understand this has nothing to do with religion. Before the idea of religion entered the human mind, this happened.Guru Poornima is important because it was on this day that the seed of liberation was planted in human consciousness. Over 15,000 years ago, in the upper regions of the Himalayas, a yogi appeared. Nobody knew who he was, where he came from, what his origins were. Because no one knew who he was, they called him Adiyogi, the first yogi. People gathered in huge numbers around him because his presence was quite extraordinary. Read more..
