in mamata’s footsteps?

 

A K Antony may be the most honest Minister in the current Government but the Defence Ministry and even Parliament are full of intense speculation about his wife. Her painting hobby has taken the political world by storm. MPs of the standing committee on defence are full of stories on how her paintings are being bought for huge amounts so much so that the Army Welfare Fund is being used for that purpose. Similarly, several public sector undertakings have suddenly discovered her booming talent and are busy acquiring her paintings as though there is no tomorrow. The Defence Minister, who prides himself on his Mr Clean image, should learn a thing or two from Mamata Banerjee. Her paintings were bought for crores of rupees after she became the West Bengal Chief Minister, with Saradha boss Sudipta Sen leading the pack in bidding high for Didi’s works of art. And now with the chit fund fiasco exploding in her face and Didi denying any wrongdoing by her party and MPs, Sen’s forays into the art world may have proved a little costly for the Chief Minister. g
