Hazare’s sown a seed in Andhra

A snowballing effect of the Anna Hazare movement is discernible in the Andhra Pradesh bureaucracy. Some half-a-dozen young IAS officers are working quietly, not disclosing names and not making their campaign conspicuous by labelling it. Yet, to the bafflement of one and all, they are invisible solders combating the enemy of corruption. Word has already spread and babus are extra cautious in the Secretariat. It seems some honest seniors are guiding these youngsters on how to catch the errant members of the service. The modus operandi is to identify such a person and then lay a trap. Their action is so drastic that the corrupt employee’s career is ruined forever. They have started leaking names to the Anti-Corruption Bureau too.

As one officer commented, it is a sudden and spontaneous development but it is having effect with the fear of being caught anytime working as a deterrent.
